Net.Weight - a University of Brighton project funded by the Department of Health (England)

NHS REC reference number 07/Q1907/54

The Net.Weight project investigated the potential of information technology to support self care in weight management.

The Net.Weight research project formally ended on July 31, 2009 with the submission of the Final Report to our funder, the Department of Health. The report was approved in November 2009, after receiving positive reviews from three peer reviewers. The Executive Summary, Final Report and Annexes are published here in the Final report section.

The study was part of the Information and Communication Technology Research Initiative (ICTRI), funded by the Policy Research Program of the Department of Health. The World Health Organisation has identified chronic disease as a growing problem and a priority for the public health agenda. A program of six projects, running from 2007-2009, investigated the potential of ICTs to support people managing their chronic health conditions. For more information about the program and the other projects visit the ICTRI website.

The Net.Weight project was based in Brighton & Hove, a city that has made a commitment to improving the health of its residents through its Healthy City initiatives. The project set out to narrow the gap between the information, advice and support that is provided and what is known about, accessible, usable and useful to members of the local community.

On our website you will find information about the project research team, partners and advisors, research in progress and the final outcomes of the project. Publication of the results will continue from 2009 to 2010, so please bookmark the site and make a return visit to read our reports and papers as we make them available.
